Growing up in Queens, Awkwafina developed a love for storytelling and music at an early age. Her mother passed away when she was just four years old, which deeply influenced her life and career choices. Despite the challenges, she found solace in creative expression and pursued her passions with determination.
Education and Early Interests
Awkwafina attended LaGuardia High School, a prestigious performing arts school in New York City. During her time there, she honed her skills in theater and writing, laying the foundation for her future success. Later, she studied journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she further explored her interest in media and storytelling.
