Abraham Lincoln: the 16Th President of the United States
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a one-room log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky (now part of LaRue County). His early life was marked by hardship and the struggles of a frontier family. Despite limited formal education, Lincoln was an avid reader and developed a keen interest in learning.
Lincoln’s family moved to Indiana when he was seven, where he worked on the family farm. His mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, died when he was just nine years old, a loss that deeply affected him. After his father's remarriage, Lincoln sought independence and moved to New Salem, Illinois, where he began his journey into politics and law.
