Picabo Street’s father, Roland Wayne, was her utmost inspiration for her achievements in her life as a skier.
Roland Wayne Street Jr. died at the age of 79 in Park City, Utah, from complications related to diabetes.
To his loved ones, he was known as “Stubby” or “Ronnie,” and he led an eventful life with honesty and greatness.
Stubby was born on November 26, 1939, in Orofino, Idaho.
Stubby’s father, Roland Wayne Street Sr., was a logging camp nurse, and his mother, Ruthe Chilton Street, devoted her life to Stubby.
Roland’s elder brother, Bill, and younger sister, Susie, were a great help for him.
Ronald trained Baba and Picabo Street to ski in the backyard. They were five and seven years old at the time.
For many years, Ronald taught himself how to handle a chainsaw and put up eight cords of wood every fall.
He also spent several years studying karate.
